Getting Going…

Does it cost anything?
No…It is free to open an account and it is free to place kittens available adverts, catteries, studs, events & clubs. It is also free to browse & contact people. No catches!

Do I Need To Register & How Do I Do It?
You only need to register if you want to add information to the site. You do not need to register to browse or contact people. It is simple to register. Visit Here and give us your preferred username & password. No complex forms to fill in!

Where Do I Start?
Register for your free account first. Then log into 'Your Account' and look for the buttons to add adverts, catteries & studs etc to the site. You can't miss them!

Exactly What Information Can I Put On KittenList for FREE?
Once you have registered for a free account you can start advertising straight away. Log into 'Your Account' and you can add any of the following to the site for FREE!
- Standard For Sale/Wanted Cats & Kittens Adverts: Have up to three 'standard' adverts on site at any one time. Unlimited Use! That's three 'standrad' adverts on site all year round and, if you have a pedigree cattery on site, any adverts will also be linked to that.
- Pedigree Catteries: Add up to three pedigree catteries (each with one photo). They will be highlighted on our homepage as the latest cattery!
- Open Studs: Add up to four open studs (each with one photo).
- Cat Clubs & Events: Involved with a cat club or know about a cat event? Add unlimited details.
+ We have also introduced a new option to buy a 'Premium Advert'

How Long Will My Information Stay On site?
Standard (free) For Sale/Wanted Cats & Kittens Adverts: You can have up to three online at any one time. They will stay online for 30 days after which time they will auto expire (and will be replaced with a new blank one). We allow max 3 'standard' adverts on at any one time to give everybody a fair chance. You can update your adverts as often as you wish.
Premium Adverts: 45 days - and you can update them as often as you wish. After 45 days you would need to purchase a new one.
Pedigree Catteries: Indefinitely - Until you remove it from 'Your Account' or ask us to remove it.
Open Studs: For 6 months at which point they are de-listed. You can 'refresh' them then (for another 6 months) from Your Account.
Cat Clubs & Events: Until you remove them from 'Your Account' or ask us to remove them.

How Will I Know If I Have Received Any Enquires From My Adverts?
You should receive all your enquiries to the email address you gave for any advert - direct to your own email client on your computer. However, you can also view your received messages from 'Your Account' ..look for the 'Messages' tab at the top of your account page.

'Your Account' Facilities

Advertising: Kittens For Sale Adverts
You can add non pedigree adverts straight away however, if you wish to advertise 'pedigree' kittens for sale, please add your cattery (breed profile) information first - You can't place 'pedigree' kittens for sale adverts until you do. You can have up to 3 standard (free) adverts on site at any one time - These can be pedigree or non pedigree. So 3 adverts on site at any one time all year round! Standard adverts last for 30 days at which point they will auto expire (regardless of whether you update them) and they will be replaced with a new, blank, one. If you delete an advert during its 30 days you can 're-activate' it from your account page. If you update your adverts regularly they will be found quicker by those just browsing our adverts and will appear in our 'Latest Adverts' lists. Be proactive about your selling -Updated adverts sell kittens! You cannot add pictures to standard adverts (only premium ones). You can find out more about premium adverts Here. Links to add a new/update an existing advert or purchase a 'premium advert' can be found in the 'adverts section' on your account page.

Advertising: Catteries (Breeder Profiles)
You cannot place 'pedigree' kittens for sale adverts unless you have a cattery registered on our site - So you'll need to add this before trying to place pedigree kittens for sale adverts. You do not have to add a cattery to place non-ped kitten adverts. You can have up to 4 pedigree catteries listed (this is for those with multiple prefixes). Each cattery name must be unique. It does not have to be a registered prefix cattery however, any kittens you sell must be able to be registered with a recognised cat governing body ie GCCF, TICA, CFA, FIFE. If your kittens cannot be registered you should not add a pedigree cattery but should place non pedigree kittens for sale adverts instead. You can add, edit & remove all your own details from your account page. Cattery profiles will stay on site until you remove them.

Catteries are manually approved after you submit them - but we try to approve them as quickly as possible. Usually within a few hours.
Cattery status includes..
'ACTIVE' you are up and running! Your cattery has been activated and your kitten adverts & stud facilities should be available to you.
'AWAITING APPROVAL' admin is checking your details prior to it going 'active.'
'UNDER CONSIDERATION' there has been a problem and you should contact admin Here

Advertising: Open Studs
You will need to register a pedigree cattery on site before your stud facilities will be available in your account. To keep the site up to date studs are automatically 'de-listed' after 6 months. If you wish to reactivate a stud for another 6 months just click the 'refresh' link next to your stud name on your account page. If your stud is not visible on site it has probably been 'de-listed.' You can have up to 4 studs on site at any one time.

Account: Usernames & Emails
Your 'account' username & email address is linked to your account setup and can only be changed by admin. This is not the same as email adresses used for your adverts, catteries or studs which can be changed by you from your on account page. Find the update link next to any of your adverts to change your email or web addresses. If you wish to change your 'account email' or username please contact admin Here You can reset your password from your account page and any password resetting emails will be sent to your account email - so it is important to notify admin of any changes to your email address. How Do I Add, Update Or Remove Information?
You can do it all! You are in control…So you add, update & remove all your own information. Log into 'Your Account' and on the very first page you can see everything you currently have on site and along side you'll find relevant links to add, update & remove your advertising. This includes adverts, studs, catteries, clubs & events. Look for the links - you can't miss them!

I've Changed My Email Or Web Address What Do I Do?
Log into 'Your Account' and update any contact details you have for adverts, catteries, studs etc. Then you should let admin know your new email so your account email can be updated *Account email is different to your advertising emails - only admin can update this (see below)

Can I Change My Account Email?
No, your account email is not the same as that used for your general advertising. The email you first registered with is linked to your account details and this cannot be changed by you. You would need to contact us to have it updated Here All your contact emails for all your general advertising however should be updated by you from 'Your Account' page.

Why Is It Important To Keep My Account Email Up To Date?
Your account email is not shown to the general public it is only used by KittenList for administration. So, for example, its is used if you reset your password, receive account confirmations, for important site announcements (including scam warnings) & for general site alerts/updates. So, yes, it is very important to keep it up to date!

Can I Add Pictures?
- Standard For Sale/Wanted Cats & Kittens Adverts: No, but if you have a cattery profile on site make sure you have a picture on that...because your adverts are linked to your cattery profile! You can add a picture to your cattery profile if you log in and click the 'update' links.
- Premium For Sale Cats & Kittens Adverts: 6 mega big pictures in a slide show. For more info visit here 'Premium Advert'
- Studs: 1 picture per stud cat (free)
- Cattery Profiles: 1 picture per cattery (free)

I've Accidentally Deleted One Of My For Sale Adverts. Is There Anything I Can Do?
Yes, log into Your Account and 'reactivate' it. It will go back online, be updatable again, and will auto expire at the usual 30 days.

Can I Change A Non-Pedigree Advert To A Pedigree One Or visa-versa?
No, you need to select whether it is pedigree or non-pedigree when you first put the advert on. If you wish to have one switched you can contact admin.

Is Any Of My User Account Or Personal Information Shown Online?
Your account registration details are only known to us. The only info that is shown to the general public is that which YOU place on your advertising. Your email details are not shown at any time, people contact you from our contact forms, and not directly.

Can I Change My Login Username?
No, your login username is unique and linked to ALL your advertising. If you wish to change it you will need to contact us Here

Can I Delete My Account?
No, if you wish to have an actual account removed you can contact us Here

Do I Have To Have A Registered Cattery Prefix In Order To Add A Pedigree Cattery Or Studs?
No, as long as your kittens cover the following criteria you can add a pedigree cattery (once your cattery is added you can also then place studs)…
1) The cat/kitten has to be registered (by the person selling) at an official governing body such as GCCF, CFA, TICA, FIFE etc (not to be confused with a local 'cat club'). The dam must also be registered 'active' to the seller.
2) The kitten is sold with full pedigree papers and can be registered - with an official governing body.
3) Both parents of the kitten are registered 'active' - with an official governing body.

Troubleshooting - Passwords & Usernames

I've Forgotten My Username Or Password
No problem, go to Here and have your account login information emailed to you. If you can remember your account email address or login username you can have your details sent. You will be able to reset your password using this facility as well. Your account login information can only be sent to your account email address (Thats the email you regsitered your account with).

I've Forgotten The Email and Username I Registered With - Or It Wont Accept My Email/Username To Reset My Password
The only thing you can do is contact admin Here and we will try to establish your account username & email. Please help us to find you on the system by giving as much info as possible...ie login name (if known), cattery name, possible previous email address, any advert you may have on site etc. ..anything you think may help us locate you.

I've Reset My Password But The New Code You Sent Doesn't Work
We recommend that you try to reset your password twice before contacting admin. Don't forget..you cannot reset a password on an un-activated account. Is it active? If the account has never been used before it is possible that it is not activated. If so please see Here first. If you have made repeated attempts, and you are sure your account has been activated by you, then please contact admin Here with your login username details - and we can manually reset your password for you. Sorry we cannot send you your existing password - we are never privy to these details!

Can I Change My Login Username?
No, your login username is unique and linked to ALL your advertising. If you wish to change it you will need to contact us Here

Can I Ask For My Password?
No, KittenList staff are never privy to your password information. You will either need to reset your password yourself or have it reset by admin.

Troubleshooting - First Registration & Account Activation

It Keeps Saying I Have An Invalid Email Address
Our system has an email address checker. If you are getting repeated email address errors please contact admin with your preferred login username and we will set the account up for you. Contact admin Here

I Have Not Received My Activation Email And Can't Activate My Account For First Use

It is possible that our activation email has been interpreted by your Internet Service Provider as spam. Have you checked all of your bulk/junk folders?...both on your home machine and at any online email facilities?

The activation email would have been sent to the email you registered with. Are you sure the email address was correct?

If both of the above are not the case you can have your activation email resent….Try to log in. Our system will recognise that your account is not active and will ask if you want the activation email resent. If you have tried having it re-sent and have still not received it contact admin Here with your login username details and we will manually activate it.

I've Just Registered and Can't Log In, Or Reset My Password, With The Details You Sent
The most common answer to this is simply that the account has not been activated. You cannot reset passwords or access your account unless it has been activated. Please read above (- I have not received my activation email and can't activate my account for first use). If you are certain your account has been activated then you will need to contact admin Here with your login username details and we will manually activate it/reset your password.

Troubleshooting - General

Forgotten All My Details. Don't Even Know If I Have An Account
Please contact admin giving as much info as you can i.e. a cattery name, any email address you think you may have registered with. We can check your details. Contact admin Here

Can I Delete My Account?
No, if you wish to have an actual account removed you can contact us Here. All other information can be removed by you from your account including adverts, catteries & studs.

My Adverts/Cattery Are Not Showing On Site!
The most common answer to this question is simply that information is missing from your advert. Log into 'your account' and make sure that all your information is up to date. Our search facilities need to know whether the advert is ped/non-ped, your area & your breeds. If these are missing from your advert info your adverts will not show online! For cattery profiles: The usual answer to this question is that you don't have any breeds ticked on your cattery information.

Problems With My Cattery Name/Adding My Cattery
If you are getting errors or are having problems adding a particular cattery name this usually means that your cattery name is already on site. Cattery names are unique so there can only be one version of the name on site. Invariably this means you already have an account and a cattery is in there. Don't try to add another cattery of the same name please contact admin Here so we can sort out your existing account details.

Problems Getting Logged In When Details Are Correct Or Can't Stay Logged In

If you have problems accessing your account, when you know all your details are correct, or can't stay logged in you may well have a browser cookie issue. Our log in feature needs cookies to function on your computer all the time you are logged in (or trying to log into an existing account) and if they are disallowed you may very well get logged out when you try to browse the site. You may find that you can log in ok but as soon as you click a navigation link to browse the site you get logged out. This is not a problem with our site but is your own browser or firewall preventing you from staying logged in. Cookies are not harmful to your computer! Their only function is to recognise you when you make return visits to the site and to keep you logged in.

BROWSER COOKIE SETTINGS: (Internet Explorer, Netscape, Mozilla etc): Are your security or privacy settings set too high to allow cookies? Are your antivirus/ firewall settings preventing your cookies from working? You will need to either…

a) Lower your browser or firewall 'Internet zone' security levels slightly (enough to 'allow' cookies). Browsers and firewalls also have 'Privacy' sections - make sure it is allowing cookies. You'll find the security/privacy sections in the 'Tools' - 'Internet Options' section on your Internet Explorer browser drop down menus.

b) Add http://www.kittenlist.co.uk to your list of 'allowed sites' in your browser or firewall. Internet Explorer: You'll find the allowed 'sites' button in the 'Tools Drop Down Menu' - 'Internet Options' - 'Privacy, Tab' section. Click the 'sites' button and ask it to 'allow' http://www.kittenlist.co.uk Then try to log in again.

Account/Email Suspension
If you have received a page message 'This email/account has been banned or suspended' or, you cannot contact anyone using any of the online forms, you will need to contact admin Here to find out why.
