Hi all
Very proud to announce the arrival of the first Khao Manee cat to arrive in the UK, on 9 May 2009.
Odyssey ChaWee of Ayshazen is her name. The breed is of natural Thai origin, the fourth great Thai breed, curiously left behind by its predecessors, the Burmese, Siamese and Korat in the West. ChaWee is pure white, of foreign type and she has odd coloured eyes, although the breed also produce blue eyes and yellow/green eyes too. They are held in very high esteem in Thailand, and are bred and shown there.
ChaWee is coming in from the US, hopefully mated. Both of her parents are from Thailand.
All cats for breeding in the UK will be BAER tested to ensure that they are hearing. No deaf KM will be permitted on our active register. They are still in experimental stage in TICA at the moment but a motion for registration only status will be put to the Board in May, as the required litters and kittens have now been registered with TICA.
We plan to apply to the GCCF for recognition, and have set up a new club and committee. The club website will be completed very soon, so please bear with us. The address is
http://www.khaomaneecatclub.co.uk and membership is open to anyone interested in the breed, not just breeders.
Our aim is to promote this beautiful Thai breed and give it the place it deserves among the great Thai breeds already here in the UK.
Best wishes
Chrissy Russell
