Don't worry yourself about that. I'd aim for six on the first day with controlled matings and if she didn't want it to happen it wouldn't. You'd be astounded how many matings happen if cats are just left together.

Definately. They thouroughly enjoy themselves given half a chance. In the wild apart from lions the cats would only have a chance meeting and mating so in the interest of survival of the species multiple matings occur Penny

thankyou for all your support and help. my girls eye seems better today although still swollen and very red. she is eating well. i dont need to worry about overdosing the metacam as she moved and half of it went all over the floor, a sign shes feeling better if you cant give them medication. the studboy breeder phoned to ask how she was which is nice and offered a free mating if all goes wrong. i declined the kind offer and will neuter her after her kittens, if she has any. much better to have her as a muched loved pet than put her through this again.

Hope her eye is better soon. I'm quite sure the stud owner was concerned. It is a big responsibility having other peoples cats to stay. Penny

I am glad her eye us looking better, but you could try another stud cat next time, but she should be pregnant after 8 matings i would think, its just if the kittens are ok after the metacam, hopefully they will be

yes penny, the stud owner is very concerned as she didnt realise the true damage done but i dont blame her. my girl will be ok so thats all that matters. i was more in shock than anything else.
this is her first mating vj, at 2 years old. she had her first season at a year and a half so was late to start seasons. i chose a proven studboy as i thought he would be more gentle, i now know it was a mistake. my studboy is related to her and im now put off using outside studs. she will be neutered and i have 3 girls to use with my boy who is much more gentle, so i think im making the right decision in neutering but will wait to see if she has kittens first. i also think that as the breeders boy hadnt been used for 4 months he may have been a little impatient and very excited, bless him.

Don't be. Cat mating is not a romantic affair and it's far more likely that a stud gets swiped by a queen. What happened to you was unlucky and there's no reason to supposeit will happen again.

I agree with toadvs its usually the boys who are damaged if any, and it will have been a pure accident i expect, he might have been going for her neck and she turned round suddenly or something like that, and if its her first time she might have been frightened
