Hi Sheila - hope the kitten is feeling a bit better today? :D

I can feel where they put the microchip, there is a bump or little scab or something, is this normal

Not sure really, can't remember that being an issue with either of mine. Perhaps it takes time to settle down maybe :?
Glad the op went OK Em, I bet he's running around as if nothing's happened by tomorrow, the GA has probably taken it's toll.

Its good that you have discussed it with your vet Em :) , how do they keep the cat still giving a local i wonder
I think i would prefer mine to have a GA :?

Yay! Been having real problems with posting but seems I can again :D
I can't say I have any experience of a male being neutered without a full GA but I do prefer it to sedation and a local. I'm never really sure that they do bother with the local anyway and just rely on sedation and speed. What I do have a real issue with is owners who phone around vets and go for the really cheap quote when they don't know why there's the difference in price. I do wonder if they would go for the cheapest option if they knew why it cost less.

So pleased all went well Em, :D
i have never felt a lump or anything when mine were microchipped,
If you are worried you could ring the vet tomorrow and check, but it sounds as if the chip hasnt gone deep enough, or maybe at an angle , but it might settle later, just check him occasionally to see :?

Yes I agree with you Toadvs, having thought about it some more I am glad Dex had a GA now :D I would hate to think that the local wasn't bothered with, it must still be very painful for the poor cat :(
Thanks Veejay, I have had another feel of the area and nothing there now, could be I was imagining it
He has a check up next Tuesday and I hope that will be his last visit to the vet for some time now fingers crossed, although as I probably thought he was rather a hit with the vet and nurses :D

its always a worry em. every time i look in the nesting box i hope they are all alive and feeding. all kittens are doing well mum isnt too keen on me topping up the kittens so im going to leave it for today as they are all plump so they must be getting enough. maybe when they are a week older she maybe glad of some help and change her mind. the other 5 week old litter are great.... very active and naughty.
hope all other kittens are doing well. :D you start doing kittens at 6am and finish 10pm... it never stops.

I had the same problem with Django  In the end I gave up and let him get on with it - he certainly wasn't in any pain afterwards :D It must just be a policy with that particular vet's surgery. I think it cost about £40 but I didn't seek a quote beforehand as I totally trust that surgery and felt it unnecessary to shop around for quotes. TBH if I had any doubts about veterinary care I would be seeking personal recommendations rather than shopping around for the cheapest option. 8)
